Sylvia May Estep Farr, 86, of Roanoke Rapids, died Friday, October 30, 2009.

Mrs. Farr was a native of Blair, WV, the daughter of the late Clyde Clarence Estep and Carrie Thompson Estep. In addition to her parents, her sister, Edith Sheppard, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Farr is survived by her daughter, Judy S. Burch and her husband, Tom, of Roanoke Rapids; two sons, Donald Sloan and his wife, Karen Gleave Sloan, of Chicago, IL and Dr. Greg Farr and his wife, Dr. Teresa Farr, of Sunnyvale, TX; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Estep of Houston, TX, Mildred Fannin of Tallahassee, FL, and Allene Maschke of Paris, KY; and one brother, Lawrence Estep of Morehead, KY.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 2, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids with Minister Dale Morris officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
